The CW has released the synopsis for April 19th episode 3.19 titled “Heart of Darkness”. As always, very spoilery, so beware.
TYLER RETURNS TO MYSTIC FALLS — Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) set off together to make sure Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is safe in Denver, and to see if his special abilities can help reveal the information they need about ancient vampire bloodlines. It doesn’t take them long to learn that Jeremy has been hanging with the wrong people. Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) both go to brutal extremes in their search for the missing weapon. Caroline (Candice Accola) is thrilled when Tyler (Michael Trevino) returns to town, but Tyler soon suspects that something has been going on between Caroline and Klaus. Matt (Zach Roerig) has his hands full trying to keep Rebecca (Claire Holt) busy organizing the school’s upcoming 1920s Decade Dance. Chris Grismer directed the episode written by Brian Young and Evan Bleiweiss

Vampire Diaries Spoilers Via E!Online: When Will Tyler Be Back?
E!Online has the low down on “the love triangle” and when we can expect Tyler’s return. The episode they are talking about is Episode 3.19 “Heart of Darkness”, which will likely air April 19th, after the show takes another 2 week break before finishing the season out.
ThomasJones: Any scenes coming up for Damon and Elena? Stefan and Elena? Any movement on the love-triangle front?
According to a very solid source, the Damon-Elena-Stefan love triangle will “blow wide open” when the show returns for its spring run with the “Heart of Darkness” episode. (Yee!) So, Delena and Stelena fans, prepare yoselves for battle! And don’t forget: TVD boss Julie Plec teased to us more kissing (for all the characters) in the final episodes than all the previous episodes this season combined.
Molly: What can we expect from Tyler’s return? What does it mean for Caroline and Klaus?
Tyler makes his return in “Heart of Darkness” with a big sexy scene between him and Caroline. Hope Klaus doesn’t find out! No, really. You know how Tyler is all sired to him and everything? That would not end well.

Creative Cow Magazine: Style, Emotion and Vamping The Vampire Diaries by Nancy Forner
Check out this really great article written by The Vampire Diaries editor, Nancy Forner from Creative Cow Magazine. Thanks to Julie Plec for sharing this with the fandom. I love reading articles that explain the processes in creating each episode, and editing is one extremely important aspects of “the process”. Nancy shares with us, styling, picking the music (yes, I thought it was all up to music supervisor Chris Mollere, but it turns out Nancy is the one that makes the final choice) and how she takes 40 hours (YES, 40 HOURS) of film footage and breaks it down to a 42 minute episode. Love her comments about Paul and Ian, and she even talks about creating vamp speed, what she calls “vamping”. Check out the excerpt below and then head on over toCreative Cow to read the rest of the article.
40 HOURS DOWN TO 42 MINUTES
The Vampire Diaries is shot with two to three ARRI Alexa cameras, whereas a classic, formally created drama will use one camera. On a show like SVU, we would get 20 hours of dailies to create a 42-minute show. On TVD, we get 40 hours of dailies to create that same 42-minute show — a lot more footage, meaning a lot more choices. I don’t sit and watch the 40 hours before I begin, though.
I just jump in, but by the time I cut a scene, I’ve pretty much watched everything.
The way I’ve set up my Avid Media Composer 5.5, I can watch two cameras at the same time. I’ve trained myself to be able to take in all that information at once and know what’s going on in each take. But cutting a 42-minute episode from 40 hours is a lot of work. We work long hours and a lot of weekends.
Because the subject matter is dark and it’s about vampires, a lot of the footage is visually dark. I had the same thing on Buffy, and scrutinizing all that dark footage does get tiring to the eyes.
But it’s exciting too; I get all those hours staring at Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan, and Ian Somerhalder, who plays his brother Damon. They’re more than eye candy; they’re adorable, and good actors. They’re very fun to watch.
I’ve worked with big actors with big names where they didn’t give you the material you needed, but these guys always do. They’re very dedicated and serious and give us the performances we need and the choices we need. Of course, the women in the show are also great; I just especially like looking at the guys.

Vampire Diaries Spoilers – E!Online Dishes on Upcoming Flashback
*SPOILER ALERT* Although many of you have already heard about this particular piece of spoilery scoop fromE!Online about a possible upcoming flashback. I’ve decided to place this in a spoiler box…but the photo above might be a tease.
Greggieyeah: The Vampire Diaries scoop please! The hiatus is killing me right about now and I need my fix.
We are going to meet Elena’s parents! Well, more specifically, her adoptive parents (and Jeremy’s birth parents): Grayson and Miranda Gilbert. And we can only assume it is for a flashback. As you may recall, Elena’s real father, John (David Anders), took his girlfriend Isobel to brother Grayson (a doctor) to help her deliver a baby, which was Elena, and whom Miranda and Grayson promptly adopted. So far we’ve only seen them in photos but TVD is currently casting actors who are willing to take scuba lessons for an underwater scene. Now, you remember what ghastly thing happened underwater to Elena and her parents, right? And how Stefan saved Elena’s life? Sure sounds like the genesis of some kind of Stefan and Elena rekindling if you ask us! Or, you know, they’re going to flash back to the Gilbert family practicing their synchronized-swim act, which would be even more awesome. We shall see.
