The Vampire Diaries Returns with Season 4 Thursday, October 11th!

YES! We finally have an official date! The Vampire Diaries will return with Season 4 Thursday, October 11th at 8/7c. So that means we have about 3 1/2 months to go. I know it seems like a VERY long time away from now. We’ve made it before, we can do it again.

On Thursdays, The CW’s top-rated series, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, returns for another season of bloody-good drama on October 11 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET), followed by the romantic new series BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET), starring Kristin Kreuk as a homicide detective and Jay Ryan as a doctor with a very dark side.

Vampire Diaries Spoilers: New Characters Coming to Mystic Falls!

It looks like we have 2 new characters coming to Mystic Falls! Most definitely only the first of many. I am so excited for Season 4 and interested to learn what these two are going to be up to. Thanks to Alloy Entertainment for the heads up on these new castings!

April: A teenage actress is being sought to take on this pretty big role. April is not only a Mystic Falls native and private school student who moves back into town after a family death — but apparently she used to be close friends with Jeremy Gilbert and has a lot of fond childhood memories of him and her hanging out.  Plus, she has a very Johanna Mason quality about her in that she acts less intelligent than she actually is! Hmm.

Connor: Know anyone who you can describe as “scary hot”? Because he’d be a shoo-in for new town stud Connor then! Described as a “highly trained killing machine” we’re highly suspicious that this evil hottie is the new villain that the CW teased us with in the official Season 4 press release.

The CW released an interesting new poster for season 4 . Tyler VS Klaus ... personally I found the poster very EVIL , where Klaus has this secret wicked smile ... which makes us very eager to know what is kept for us in season 4 !!

Question: Any Vampire Diaries scoop on Bonnie? —Macarena

Ausiello: Her decision in the finale to help Klaus take possession of Tyler’s body (all for the greater good and unbeknownst to everyone) sets up a very interesting Season 4 for Elena’s BFF. “This is Bonnie’s ‘I am witch woman, hear me roar’ moment,” declares Vampire Diaries EP Julie Plec. “She went and made a decision that she felt was best for the people that she loved, consequences be damned. Bonnie is the true hero in all of this, if you really look at it. She came in and found a way to save the day. Had she not done what she did, all of our heroes would be dead… We’re just seeing the beginning of growth for her, exploring who she is and what it means to be a witch and how she feels about it.”

Question: I need some Vampire Diaries scoop on Delena. —Karolina

Ausiello: Although not specifically about the star-crossed duo, Plec reveals that Year 4 will be the Season of Transition. “Every character is growing up and graduating, so to speak,” she says, “and setting up the future of their grown-up worlds outside of Mystic Falls… Or maybe not.”

NATALIE: Put your Kleenex away: Executive producer Julie Plec says it could be a while before those decisions will be made. However, the theme of moving on and growing up will be prevalent this year. “What is that passage of adulthood for these kids who have been living these tragic lives as young adults [with] no parents, no parental supervision?” Plec says. “That’s our next couple of seasons, to get them through senior year and into college… or not.”

Vampire Diaries Season 3 DVD and Blu-ray Set for Release August 28th

Thanks to TV Shows on DVD, we have the brand new cover art and release date for The Vampire Diaries Complete 3rd Season. The DVD, and Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital combo are set to be released August 28th, 2012.

TV Line and Forever Young Adult have more Vampire Diaries Scoop from Julie Plec. With TV On Rebekah’s Role as the ‘Mean Girl’ Queen Bee | “What I’m excited about with Rebekah [in Season 4], specifically, is that we have never had a true antagonist on a human/teenage level,” she noted. We’ve never had our Valerie [from Beverly Hills, 90210] or our Amanda Woodward [from Melrose Place]. And with Rebekah, who is so vulnerable and damaged but has that tough exterior, we get to see a queen bee in action; we get to see a mean girl. As we get into the second half of their senior year, here’s Rebekah, still in Mystic Falls, heading back to school, completely ostracized from the community of people that she knows because of what she did to Elena and Matt [in the finale]. Here Julie talks with Forever Young Adult about one of The Vampire Diaries greatest strengths. (Thanks toVampire-Diaries.net for the heads up on this!)

G: I think another of the show’s greatest strengths its insanely good ensemble cast. At one point did the cast seem to gel as a whole? Were the elements just there from the start, or has it been a process of building and refining?

J:When you’re doing a pilot, you’ve got 41 minutes to introduce about 10 characters, and a world, and a story. So when you consider that you’re pilot is centered around probably just two of those characters, and there’s about eight characters that get about 2 minutes of screen time per, so it’s very difficult to make your mark as a supporting character in a pilot. And yet the beauty of a long-running series is that, theoretically, by the time you get to the end of the series your supporting characters have become your co-leads, if not sometimes become the true leads. I think that Caroline’s character is on a journey to by the end of the series — should she survive it — be one of the strong female leads of the show. So what’s fun about it is the evolution of all these people.

Vampire Diaries Spoilers – Julie Plec Dishes on Elena’s New Life in Season 4

Vampire Diaries Executive producer spills what we can expect this season from Elena to E!Online. Tierney Bricker had a chance to chat with her in this extensive interview at the ATX Festival in Austin, TX this past weekend.

In your mythology, when a person transitions into a vampire, their most dominant trait as a human is amplified. Do you guys already know which trait of Elena’s will become more prominent post-transition? 

Yeah, we do and that’s a lot of what we’ve layered in this year as well. When Elijah (Daniel Gillies) says, “Your compassion is your greatest gift,” that was very much said as a reminder that that is who this girl is. Her compassion is her gift and her Achilles heel. She is fiercely loyal, fiercely protective, and very, very compassionate to those around her in that she can see the good and the bad. When all that stuff gets amplified, it’s going to make her, hopefully, kind of a badass, you know? Like, imagine Elena who is willing to stand up and fight the good fight for her brother and for her friends as a human—imagine her now with supernatural abilities. So in a fun way, it’s like the birth of a supernatural heroine and with Buffy being the beautiful foundation of that kind of character and Sydney Bristow in Alias, it’s a whole new world to explore, so we’re kind of excited about that.

Daniel Gillies Talks Possible Return To TVD and His New Show Saving Hope with TV

TV Fanatic’s Matt Richenthal recently chatted with Daniel Gillies about his new show on NBC this Fall, Saving Hope. But not without mentioning a possible return to The Vampire Diaries.

Daniel Gillies says he has no idea why his Vampire Diaries character of Elijah has resonated so well with fans of that CW smash.

“I’m very lucky,” the actor simply told me over the phone yesterday in response to that question.

Gillies says “the door’s always open” for a return to The Vampire Diaries because he loves producer Julie Plec and that set just has a “special energy.”

Vampire Diaries Spoilers – TVD Producers Share Season 4 Scoop Via TV Guide

This weekend Vampire Diaries executive producer, Julie Plec and writer, Jose Molina spent time at the first annual ATX Festival in Austin, TX. TV Guide’s Robyn Ross was there, and actually moderated The Vampire Diaries Panel. She has seven teases to share for season 4. Spoiler Alert!! Also the beautiful Arielle Kebbel was there for a screening of fan favorite episode, “162 Candles”.

1. Stefan will lean on Caroline during Elena’s transition: “Caroline is an acolyte of the Stefan school of sobriety so to speak, so she’s going to be all, ‘I’m with you buddy, I’m on your team’ as they try to help Elena [Nina Dobrev],” Plec said. “I remember saying in Episode 203 when Stefan takes Caroline under his wing that the two of them and their chemistry was so delightful… It’s such a pleasure to watch.”

2. A possible rekindling for Caroline and Matt: While Caroline is very much in love with Tyler (Michael Trevino) at this moment, after re-watching the beginnings of Caroline and Matt’s relationship in Season 1, Plec said, “I think Caroline and Matt [Zach Roerig], in the long run of the series, will have another moment.”
