Ian Somerhalder On Missing Alaric, Loving Elena and Finding Compassion with TV
TV Fanatic had a chance to talk with Ian Somerhalder. Here Ian speaks of how Damon is handling losing Alaric.
“Losing Alaric signifies something bigger, it raises much bigger questions in Damon’s world,” the actor explains. “He wonders: ‘Why are you dead? What did I do to contribute to it?’”And it sets Damon off on a dark, lonely path.“He’s missing his best bro, but he’s also telling those around him: ‘I tried so hard to make you guys see my point of view. And now what’s happened? Alaric is dead. Elena is dead.’ Damon was right. And now he’s saying: ‘This is who I am. I tried to play nice and know what? It didn’t work.’”

First Look! TV Line Releases New Episode Still of New Vampire Hunter
Thanks to TV Line we have a new episode still featuring our new vampire hunter in Mystic Falls, Connor played by Todd Williams.
While we’ll miss Alaric — RIP — let’s face it, the vampire hunter wasn’t so much of an antagonist after his inital introduction. Connor, however, is “a legitimate threat that they’ve got to deal with,” executive producer Julie Plec tells TVLine. Not only does he cause “frustration [for] our heroes because he’s good” at what he does, but he’s also “a tough nut to crack,” explains Plec. “Every time they think they’ve got a one-up on him, he turns the tables and gets the best of them.”

Vampire Diaries Casting: Paul Telfer Cast as Vampire Hunter Alexander *SPOILER ALERT*
Thanks to Alloy for the heads up! We have learned that Paul Telfer has been cast as a vampire hunter named Alexander that we will see in a flashback and has a special connection to Rebekah. Sounds intriguing…the info below about his character is quite spoilery, so beware.
The Scottish hunk, who hails from the same hometown as 300 star Gerard Butler, has snagged the role of Alexander who is described as “rugged, handsome and charismatic.” Honestly, after taking a look at Paul and his muscular arms, we couldn’t think of a more fitting man to tackle all the demands of slaying sharp-toothed, bloodthirsty creatures. Plus, it’s been reported that he has some mysterious connections to Rebekah which may very well be of the romantic variety. Yes, word on the street is that the hunter finds himself quite taken by the gorgeous Bex. (A blonde, vulnerable beauty and her brawny, long-haired warrior — oh be still our hearts!)
